Classroom Management and Motivation
This workshop looks at seven components of effective classroom management: room arrangement, schedules, materials, rules/expectations/procedures, self-management checklists and rewards, working with paraprofessionals, and planning engaging lessons. Teachers will participate in a variety of activities, receive materials for each component, and feel confident implementing strategies in their own classroom. This is especially beneficial for new teachers.

Comprehension Strategy Instruction
This workshop examines two activities that encompass a variety of comprehension strategies: DRTA (Directed Reading and Thinking Activities) as well as Reciprocal Teaching. Participants will leave with 25 Directed Reading and Thinking Activities, that require no planning, and are a favorite of even the most reluctant reader. Teachers will fall in love with Reciprocal Teaching (again, it’s been around for a while) and learn how this effective activity (there’s a reason it’s been around for a while) can turn the classroom from teacher lead to student lead.

Participants will learn an easy, effective vocabulary routine that will fit seamlessly into any class.
